Powerstep™ By AMP Research – Retracting Running Boards for Pickups and SUVs

June 16, 2004 -- Now you see it…now you don't. The new AMP Research Powerstep™ is the only full-length running board that disappears under the truck when not in use.

With the doors closed, there is no visual cue Powerstep is installed on the vehicle, retaining the clean, uncluttered style. Powerstep is hidden and protected under the truck, flush with the rocker panel, virtually eliminating clearance issues for those who venture off-road. While stowed, the Powerstep is also up out of the way of road grime so you won't soil your pant legs as you brush by.

Open the door, however, and the Powerstep extends to greet you in just one second. Powerstep can extend to the optimal ergonomic height for proper entry and exit without sacrificing ground clearance. By placing the step at the optimum height and distance from the door opening, Powerstep provides a natural step similar to steps found in your home.

The Powerstep is activated by an electronic signal from the truck's factory door sensor switches, so operation is automatic. Though elegant in operation, Powerstep is built to rugged standards and can handle up to 600 pounds per side. The full-length step features a no-slip surface for sure-footed access regardless of weather.

A heavy-duty weatherproof motor features anti-pinch technology for an extra margin of safety. All components are OEM quality and corrosion-resistant for long service life. The Powerstep is designed to operate normally in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. It has been tested in conditions ranging from a sweltering +200°F to a frigid minus 40°F.

The Powerstep is engineered, designed and manufactured by AMP Research. In a strategic alliance, Bestop will market and distribute the Powerstep for AMP in North America.
